A non-profit corporation registered under the state of Arkansas, The American Indian Heritage Support Center was formed to help preserve the varied histories, culture, and sacred traditions of the American Indian people.  Our area of concern includes the states of Arkansas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Missouri, and Tennessee.  A brief mission statement can be read here: MISSION.

Our EDUCATION section provides a synopsis of the history of American Indian boarding schools, followed by suggested resources for classroom teaching.  Resources for K-12 lesson plans and reading about the American Indian are given in the CLASSROOM RESOURCES section.

Initial focus of the Center encompasses the states of Arkansas and Missouri, both which have a rich American Indian history.  A short history of known tribes that once occupied these states is included in the AREA TRIBES section, along with current tribal addresses.  Oklahoma, Kansas, Louisiana, and Tennessee tribes will be included in the future.

The states in our area also have their share of fake tribes and medicine people. The Center is dedicated to providing accurate sources of information to the public and private sectors to prevent the further dilution and destruction of Indian cultures and protect the public from scams. The Center urges those who are searching for their own Indian heritage to thoroughly investigate groups before joining one of the many fraudulent pseudo-Indian tribes, organizations, or individuals that are looking for a following.  A list of suspected organizations and individuals can be found in the BEWARE! section.

Seminars, special events, powwows, and other positive events are in the “Recommended” section under EVENTS. You will also find other scheduled events that we do not recommend either attending or supporting in the “Not Recommended” section on the same page.

American Indian related websites, artisans, and other recommended links are found on the LINKS page.

NOTICE: Ads by Google has numerous pages listing AIHC as a American Indian wedding source. These advertisements are in actuality for Manataka (MAIC). Manataka has hijacked our organizations name in a Canadian web server. We are not affiliated with any wedding activity or as a resource for weddings.  Some searches for our organization also result in Manataka being displayed.  See our information on MAIC in the beware section.
